Basically i'm looking to buy a new camera I'm looking at the DMC-LX1 but seem to read everywhere about how bad the noise is. Now i'm no photo boffin so is this the pros being pedantic or is it really not worth bothing with this camera? I like it becase it offers OIS and full manual controls in a small package. I dont want a DSLR because i would never take it anywhere with me because of the size so it would just be a waste of money.

What i'm looking for is a smallish camera with full manual controls and preferably 16:9 asspect ratio so any suggestions are welcome. Cheers

RE : Noise ~

Click here, then click the sample of the horse at the top (9th one along).

The coloured blotches in the darker, shadowy areas of the image are noise. You'll find that it's worse and more apparent in low light.

its not what i would call overly bad. Surely that noise could be fixed in photoshop?

EDIT just downloaded a few images photoshop cleans them up quite nicely.

I was originally thinking about the F30 but it doesnt offer true manual controls which i am really after. I can get an DMCLX1 for £289 now which seems great value for what it is and I dont mind a little editing in photoshop afterwards as im used to doing that with my current camera.

So I think ive made my choice thanks for the replys if anyone else thinks of something not mentioned post it today somewhen as im going to order the camera tomorrow. Cheers
