l’ve just installed Windows 10 on a new SSD in my old PC (see sig) and it was a nightmare…

Mainly, because I didn’t do my homework first.

1. Didn’t format new SSD before mounting it.

2. Didn‘t realise that the chipset driver install packages for the P8P67 wouldn’t run on W10, so I had to resort to using a driver updater tool to sort things out.

3. The Intel and Marvel SATA controller drivers aren’t playing nice with W10, so I had to swap all my SATA ports around.

4. Currently clearing out the dross that the driver updater tool brought with it.

Really looking forward to W10 End Of Life, when my whole rig will end up in a skip.
 
Not surprised all of them driver tools are awful and cause more problems than they fix in my experience!
I didn‘t want to use one, but after spending 2 hours trying to find an installer for the Intel chipset drivers that would run on W10, I just went “**** it, I’ll just use it, uninstall it and run SpyBot afterwards.”
