M-Audio ASIO over SPDIF?

I'm trying to get my M-Audio digital output to be ASIO. I've noticed with ASIO winamp volme control doesn't effect volume, both from the analogue outputs on the M-Audio and the analogue outputs on the X-F.

I've copied the ASIO plugin into the Winamp directory but when I select it, quit and start music playback there is silence. It works normally when wave output is selected in Winamp. Revo output is set to SPDIF. I've found this post and changed "shift output channels" to 2 but I can't find where patchbay/router is located. Is this a special 2496 mixer?

Same problem on Audiophile 2496 (PCI) resolved: I exactly had the same problem with my pci audiophile 2496. The resolution was not obvious but proved simple in the end. Go the the ASIO plugin in winamp, take a look at the output channel selected. It will probably be set to "0" in my case changing it to "2" redirected the asio output to the Audiophile's WavOut S/PDIF in the mixer/monitor and also in the Patchbay/Router. Go to Patchbay/Router and select WavOut S/PDIF in HW Out S/DIF and you should be done. Note that I am not familiar with your card's interface software so that number "2" might be slightly different. (Basically that option offsets the output channels, but probably the number you need should be even, just try until you get the right offset.) Hope this helps.. M-Audio was not able to tell me this incidentally.. I had to figure it out for myself. I was really sweating it for a while there. Edit to make offsetting asio output channels clearer? Not sure I described it all that accurately or well.

im a bit sketchy on m-audio's asio support, but for most cards you have to set a bitrate other than 16bit, usually 24 or sometimes 32. i know that with the wrong bitrate, they nearly all just play silence.

That does defeat the object somewhat, having to use non-bitperfect audio to do it, but thats how it works. so yeah, try setting 24 or 32bit. I personally just stick to kernel streaming lol
