Most of the M-ITX build all seem to be a 5.25" drive wide. Which I think is a bit odd as it doesn't save "footprint" from a normal tower matx. I'd prefer one that is a slim tower or can go under them monitor. I don't want an optical drive. Leaving more desk space.

What are the options if you want to put a fullsized gfx card in a narrower case? Cheaper the better.

You've stated in the title M-ITX towers, but then you've put that you want it to be under your monitor. Do you want a tower or a desktop based case or are you not worried?

There are many m-ITX cases about that support large cards and no optical, but it depends on what shape and size you want to use.

Cube;
Silverstone SG13, SG07, SG08
Xigmatek Nebula
Antec ISK 600

Desktop;
Silverstone ML06, ML07, ML08, RVZ01, RVZ02, FTZ01
Fractal Design Node 202
Lian Li PC-Q19, O5

Tower:
Lian Li PC-Q01, Q33, Q30, TU200
Silverstone CS01
Cubitek Mini Center

They are just a quick look at some of the smaller ones that take ATX (admittedly some take SFX), full GPU and don't have Optical drives.

But in turn sometimes a full 5.25" optical can be very useful for a rad/pump config (e.g. PC-Q11) , or 4x2.5" drive bay.

What is the full system you plan to put in it, will it stay on your desk permanently or be moved for LAN/work, looking for upgrades in the future?
