Can anyone tell me what these DVDs are? I'm looking to buy the X-files and have found that these are a lot cheaper than the normal ones. Does anyone know why? Are they lower quality or something?

Thanks a lot.

The DVD's are the same IIRC, it's the packaging that is different.

I think originally a lot of box sets (Friends, B5, Buffy, X-Files etc) came in foldout packaging, when they rereleased them for budget sales they moved them over to the cheaper to produce but (in my opinion infinately better) M-Lock packaging.

I may be slightly biased though as to me M-lock cases are pretty much the best DVD case (easier to use than 90% of other hub types*), and much sturdier than foldout cardboard cases.

*Some of which either hold onto the disks so hard you almost snap them getting them out, or so loosly that the disks don't stay put.

If you look closely at them inner ring it should have an ID and Batch number.

You just have to remember a few dozen 10-20 digit numbers :p

oooh Friends dvds are the worst ever.....

Poxy stupid flipper discs, with no markings at all to say what series, side, show, or anything else on them.

Just plain daft.

Ive got three different types of Friends box sets and all of my disks are marked a and B in someway. The early ones are best though as they are marked with a red A or B

My R1 ones are all marked, the series they are in, all single sided dual layer with full colour print on one side with series number and disc number. :D

M-Lock x-files are pretty good, the only thing to take note of is that where there are more disks than the pack can hold, they've hidden them in the back of the little paper booklet.
