Hello

My M.O.T is coming up this friday and just been looking at This Site

Im pretty confident in everything except my lights and registration plate

My registration plate:

Do you think that could fail me?

Also with my lights my right 1 is a tiny bit higher then my left light, but i dont understand on how they test them?

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help :)

If that plate is on a car which was originally 51 plate or newer, that plate is illegal on the basis you don't have the name of the maker and postcode.

As far as i know, the lights just have to be working...

According to: http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/repository/CONT109727.pdf

It will fail if the plate is damaged or deteriorated (to the point where it could be misread), so it should be OK.

Thanks a lot Liquid, guess i should be ok then

Its a S reg 98 Civic. Really cant see it failing on anything else as brakes/ tyres was all replaced just before its last M.O.T with the previous owner

Its my first M.O.T so not sure how everything goes :p

well its failed

it just needs a new front near side ball joint, they said it would cost £70+vat to fix

just wondering, im ok to fix this my self aint i?save my self some cash

then can i just take it back tomorrow for them to give a quick once over we out any extra cost?

cheers

As long as you actually know what work is involved and it'll probably work out cheaper just to change the lower arm if it's anything like my old Escort.

The markings for a plate dont come on brand new plates from halfords as "legal plates" not show ones. So I dont get all this about markings, mine dont and im a 52 plate and came like this new.

well i just ended up taking it to garage and was told it should be sorted by 5 but it wasn't

quoted these from another froum just to some it up:

having to pick it up in morning now, was ment to be picking it up at 5 but they ordered the wrong ball joints

if they told me 600 quid i wouldn't even bother haha, i would just break it

also seen how much of a small world it is, a dude PM'ed me today on here after seeing my other thread asking if it was my car he see's parked up all time in a certain place which it was then when i go to get it mot'ed he's at same garage getting is mot'ed haha

madness, ill have to try seeing if i can spot any civic life cars about :headbang:

my car still aint ready i think they've ordered wrong ball joint again, reason for leaving it there last night was because they said if i wanted it fixing last night they would charge me 2 labour hours even though it was them what ordered wrong thing, so they left it on ramp over night

hope they dont try doing me 2 labour hours today due them or who ever delivers the stuff getting it wrong again, no way im paying 2 hours for a half hour job

just rang them and na its budged from 70 quid to 100 quid and should be ready in next half a hour, well best be anyway as i have to go to Hull soon
