So I have one of those Dell laptops that seem to explode after 2 years, and somehow it managed to last 4 years without the graphics card melting.

It was running really hot, and the fan was running at 5000RPM constantly.

Time to mod it!

Ripped it apart and cleaned it.
Fiddled with Nvidia drivers, the 257's seem to run coolest.
Hard disk replaced with a Crucial M225 128GB
Cooling taken off, MX4 for general purposes, Phobya pads for the Northbridge and a sliver of copper instead of a thermal pad for the GFX chip.
CPU T7500 replaced with a T8300 for £25 on ebay.

Temps dropped 40C, fans not spinning up and it's super fast now! (Well for a C2D laptop anyway)
