ok here's the scenario.
original 320gb hdd it came with 2 partitions, partition 1 is abou 10gig and called recovery, partiton 2 is the rest of the drive with o/s on it.
i have installed an ssd drive and now wish to use the original drive as a secondary drive for storage.
now i understand i need to keep the recovery partition, just in case i ever need to restore the drive to its state when i first got it, once i have backed up this bit of the drive is it safe to format the other partition ready to use as storage?

rather bizzare, the recovery partition has no files in it yet it states 2.87gig of 9.37gig free, i have hidden files enabled?
