I'm having an issue with an M2 drive not being detected on my new build.

It's a Samsung 860 Evo 1TB SATA 3 6Gbs. Build, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Asrock B650 PG Lightning.

I've flashed to the later bios and no difference ‍♂️

I've had a look at your motherboards manual and it's not 100 % clear but it may not support M2 SATA drives

An M2 drive is just a form factor and there are two protocols use to communicate. You have the older SATA like yours and the newer NVME ( PCI-Express)

I would make sure you have no other SATA drives attached and try using one of the two lower M2 slots as they are connected to the chipset. The top primary m2 slot will be linked directly to the CPU which is unlikely to support the SATA protocol.
Ah ok, that could be it then. It's in the the last slot near the bottom of the board.

It's this one https://www.samsung.com/uk/memory-storage/sata-ssd/860-evo-sata-3-m-2-ssd-1tb-mz-n6e1t0bw/#specs
