I've brought an Intel pro 5450 256gb m2 SSD and its not being detected at all by my Asrock Z97 Extreme6. Neither in BIOS or Windows.

This is the SSD

My understanding is this is just a regular SATA 3 SSD in the m2 form factor so it will need to go in the second of my two m2 slots ( I have tried both but the results are the same).

Am I missing something obvious as to why this wouldn't work with my set up. I have played around with every BIOS option I can see that is related to the M2 slots.

I even updated my BIOS to the latest BETA BIOS in a last ditch effort to get it working, knowing that it would reset all my overclock etc but it didn't help any.

Am I missing anything or have i got a dead SSD?

The specs on the motherboard page state:
The M.2 Socket (M2_2), SATA3_4, SATA3_5 and SATA Express share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled.

Might want to check you aren't using any of the other ports already.

Still having trouble with this. I tried removing all drives and having nothing but the M2 connected in slot 2 and loaded into BIOS but I couldn't see it.

I also had a m2/NGFF to sata 3.0 enclosure turn up today and I have popped the drive in there and connected it to a regular sata port and its working. Windows saw it and i was able to initialise it and run a benchmark and all seems well.

So I have proven the M2 drive is ok but not in my M2 slot so is a faulty motherboard the only thing it can be now?
