Hey everyone,
Thinking I had a Asus m2n series board, I looked up my motherboard name on Cpu-z and found it was a m2n-e.
Anyhow, I went on the ASUS web site to download the latest 3001 release of the BIOS, in order that I could upgrade to a Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition.
So I downloaded the 3001 ROM, put the .bin file on my USB flash drive and booted into my Bios, and ran the Ez-flash bios update utility and updated to 3001.
As it was finishing, the computer said it will restart in 5 seconds. It didn't though - it just powered down completely.
After this, I booted the computer up and everything spinned up, then died. I tried a second time, and the same - everything spinned up, then died and no VGA signal or beep codes.
Thinking the bios was corrupt, I ripped out the battery, left it for a few minutes before putting the battery in. Rebooting after this seemed to do the trick.
However, on getting into windows, my USB mouse wasn't lit up - and my flash drive stopped working - I tried on all USB ports.
I'm wondering if this is recoverable, or if it's new motherboard time (means spending more on my Phenom II X4 upgrade though).
Edit: Think it's going to be a case of trying a further BIOS update via floppy drive/floppy - I'll use the one on the other computer at home to see if that works. If not, I think I'll just get an AM3 motherboard/DDR3 memory
Any help greatly appreciated
David
