M3 or R4 for my DS

Both are the exact same product under different names. Although the R4 does get their software updates earlier and more frequently then the M3.

And because they get the software first many believe that M3 buy from R4 and simply slap their own brandname on it. I've owned both (currently own an R4) and there is little difference between them except the earlier updates I mentioned.
 
I have the M3.

Went for that over the R4 because it was about £5 cheaper and M3 have made other flash carts. At the time the R4 only came in white too (I have a black DS), not sure if it comes in black now though.

But like has already been said. They're both identical.
 
It's surprising that the mods seem to ignore threads about DS passcards, even to the extent of allowing them to be sold in the MM. Surely they have the same legal ramifications of a modchip for any other console?

Oh and just so I'm not taking the thread completely off topic, I too have owned both and the difference between the two wasn't even noticeable - I ended up selling one and keeping the other (the M3). :p

Well considering Datel make a passcard and a slot 2 flashcard aswell , can't see there's much of a problem with em , otherwise surely they would not be able to sell them.
 
I have a R4 , but considering they're the same thing , I don't see it making much difference. The early ones could even be hardware modded to accept the others firmware (m3 on r4 , or r4 on m3). Think there is a patcher out now aswell which will do it by software.

Why would the mods be bothered? There is nothing illegal about passcards and the like. They are used for running homebrew on a system that has been legally purchased. There is no license agreement that you have with Nintendo preventing you from running homebrew so you are not doing anything wrong.

Nevertheless, the mods sometimes delete threads. They don't just close them either - they appear to get totally nuked.
