M3 Road Works

Anyone know what the road works on the M3 are for :confused:

There is a huge (15 miles) section from the M25 junction down and another equally large section pending after that.

Says, "Upgrading to smart motorway". No idea what that means but I guessing it means installing speed cameras

I think it's to add the variable speed limit etc. Similar to the M42

I had the pleasure of using part of the M1 with it's 'smart' speed limit - it was down to 40mph at around 10pm with a practically empty motorway - very smart.
