This car is slowly making it's way up my short list for a replacement for the E60 between Sept / March this year.

My question, not that it probably really matter, but does anyone know why the saloon is shorter than the Coupe? Wheelbase is the same, but overall length is shorter.

Because BMW made it shorter? I'm not sure how we can answer this - its shorter, because thats how it is. I think I read something about BMW intentionally making the Coupe longer for some sort of GT-ish reason.

4615mm coupe
4580mm saloon

The difference is in the boot, Coupes is bigger, probably to allow slightly more legroom for rear seat passengers whilst retaining the same wheelbase

I beleive the full reason is because the coupe is clearly filled with win, so much win it needs to be a bit longer to fit it all in.
