Baiscally I had about 5Gb of music of tunes in My Music, downloaded Winamp and it seem most of my tunes are now m3u files

Whats bugging me, and for which I need your help ;) is how can I convert them back to mp3?

It's not like I've downloaded then fron Napster or anything, they was in the proper mp3 format. If I open the m3u files in notebook they are all there but I can't retrive them, it's doing my nut in

TIA

M3U are playlist files and as such dont contain any data other than the track names/paths.

Try loading the playlists into Winamp to see if they work, if they do follow the paths to the files which should still be MP3's.

Done that, hence looking in notepad, but they just point straight back to the original file, which is m3u, but Winamp quickly deleted any mp3 file extension. All I want to do is get my albums back :(

I've got a Sony Walkman MP3 player, which uses SonicStage :insert a load of ******** smiley: which dosen't like m3u files or .pls either :o

Might just end it all ..................... so frustrating!!!

Have you tried windows search? as Caged said Winamp wouldnt change filenames.

Perhaps the player you used before like WMP10 you deleted the files from disk not just from the playlist? just a thought.
