Mac Ad a little too accurate?

A combination of the BBC and The Guardian says it all, neither organisation has a clue about computing and technology in general.

hmm he seems to be a bright chap
I hate Macs. I have always hated Macs. I hate people who use Macs. I even hate people who don't use Macs but sometimes wish they did. Macs are glorified Fisher-Price activity centres for adults; computers for scaredy cats too nervous to learn how proper computers work; computers for people who earnestly believe in feng shui.
Stupidly he is writing an article slating people for using a piece of hardware, even going as far to say he 'hates' them.
The 'I hate mac users' thing is getting stupid across the net tbh. Basically who cares what computers people use?
Loads of the stuff he says tho plays up to mac users being a stereotypical group of people.

I am amused that so many windows users slate mac users and say they 'hate' them without reason. But mac/unix/linux users have only slated or put down windows because of facts, proof & experience and also have never said they 'hate' windows users.

It's a shame you have to register to comment :(

Meh, I've heard plenty of baseless anti-Windows trolling. Been to Slashdot lately?

I've seen lots of anti-windows stuff, but not much stuff towards windows users
I've not seen any people putting windows users into a certain stereotype either

I don't read slashdot much really tho.

When I sit down to use a Mac, the first thing I think is, "I hate Macs", and then I think, "Why has this rubbish aspirational ornament only got one mouse button?" Losing that second mouse button feels like losing a limb.
Hmm... he's got a point... ;)

All I can say is what an absolutely ridiculous article, and what an idiot. He either didn’t do any research prior to writing this article, or he wrote exactly what every one wants to hear to pull in readers.

I have used PC's for most my life and I am sick of them. I’ve used a PC now since Windows 3.1 and I honestly still find it amazing that I had not used a Mac outside of a prior to 2 years ago and that I also had the same narrow minded idiotic view that Mac OS X was an inferior operating system.

I have now owned a Mac since September 2005 and I am happy to own one, I love the operating system, there is nothing I cannot do with ease, whether it be installing software, launching programs, finding documents or even updating the software.

<Marketing speak>
Mac OS X makes my life easier and makes my experience using the computer enjoyable and hassle free, leaving me to be creative and more productive whilst it just gets on with it.
</Marketing speak>

The only disappointment with a Mac is when the inevitable crash happens, yes its true Mac's do crash, not as often and not in such a spectacular way, but they do crash, however they don’t lock up, hang the shell or go to a bsod, it just notifies you, relaunches the application and offers to report it to Apple. So you can get on with your work.

My only wish is that people would try it before they bash, its not possible to get a real feel for some thing in a computer store you need to be using it on a regular basis to really know what its like and then you can honestly say whether its good or bad, but people should not simply making up their mind based on a few minutes in a shop or the opinions of others (even me).

I got a bit angry after reading the posts over on that page on the Guardian, I think some of them were still bitter over not be able to buy the original iMac when it came out in 1998...lol

But the most part they are just uneducated, ignorant, narrow-minded peasants :p

Rubbish article - what is even more shocking is that it comes from The Guardian.

This guy writing the article doesn't even have a clue about Mac OS.

About right-hand mouse button, this and Windows is a match made in heaven. One button mouse feels so natural with macs. You can't compare apple with orange like that.

Lol @ Orange (also just so happen to be a terrible fone network)

Is it me or does that article and comments feels all so ignorant?

As much as I love OSX, Windows has its strong points but you don't get me going around shouting Windows users are gits, stereotyping them and their fancy neon lighting PCs.

Tsk tsk tsk.

It's not ignorant, just a bored reporter with nothing to do but write a semi-serious fully-amusing piece, really. I hope!

Haha, lets hope that goes for all the comments made under that article as well then. What a bunch of jokers.

So, another reporter lowering themselves to writing child like articles to cause a bit of controversy?

Saw this yesterday on digg.com..

Two words about the guy who wrote that....

1 - IDIOT

2 - Arrogant

... in no particular order ;)

Just ignore him. It's his loss if he doesn't want to use or like mac's because "they look like fisher price toys"!

:)

Did you lot not used to read PC Zone? :)

Charlie Brooker makes a living out of being an ******** to people, that's his skit. He's actually quite an intelligent guy and an experienced writer.

The fact that you fanboys get so riled up by someone presenting his opinion simply makes his case for him.

Couldn't be more wrong. The Guardian embraced technology long before many other papers and maintain an excellent website and technology section. They were also one of the first publications to open up their archives and use podcasts and a broadcast medium.

The BBC have gone to extraordinary lengths to use new technologies, they have one of the most innovative and advanced computing departments of any organisation in the country. They're consistantly on the front line of technology journalism and maintain an excellent website.

How incredibly arrogant to make such a comment about an organisation because they linked to an article that contained a view opposed to your own.
