Hi folks bought a cheap one off ebay to find me way around os x.
Just wondering what is the latest version I can install and is it likely to let me use the app store please ?
I did google it but it is all a bit confusing

I think that's a 17" 2006 MacBook Pro, is that correct?
Click on the Apple symbol in the top left corner and then About This Mac to see what you're running.

If I've got the model correct, it was shipped with 10.4 (Tiger) and the latest it supports is 10.6.8 which is Snow Leopard.

It's certainly an old model, I hope it was cheap!

The Mac App Store came in as part of 10.6.6 so in theory it's supported under Snow Leopard but I have no idea whether that will still work or not. There is an update for Snow Leopard specifically for App Store compatibility which you can download from here. Good luck!

Great info thank you. I don't have it yet it is on the way via parcel togo. Quite excited lol even though it is an old one
