Mac clock resetting to 1953 when switched off, mac os8

Is it a software issue or a bios battery issue? Do macs have bios batteries? are they replacable?

Help appreciated
 
Yes and yes, depends what system you have i know the silver G4 powermac's use similar batteries to pc's just take the old one and replace it with the exact same type of batter.
 
errr its one of those orange ones that look like a telly with a clear/translucent and orange case

It's called the PRAM battery in the world of Apple (as in parameter RAM). Yeah, it's basically the same as a BIOS battery!

They're usually 3.6V lithium cells that look like a half height AA battery on G3 era machines. Not too hard to find ...
