Who wants to take a stab at this?
Just got off the phone with Ofcom. Great help – put my mind at rest (for my mother’s sake). Anyway, here’s the story:
The old budge decided to take up this offer on 512k ADSL through a local company – this is going back at least 5 years ago, if not more. There weren’t any problems until recently where she’s been approached by Sky to upgrade her TV package and also look at sorting out her internet. She hasn’t accessed the internet in a very, very long time. She opted for the package Sky recommended but the advisor stopped and said “there’s already a service on this line” to which my mother replied “I haven’t paid them in over 5 years”. Yeah, so… Spoke to Ofcom who confirmed the said company wouldn’t be able to backdate bills passed 4 months (big relief for her).
Mum finally remembered the name of the company “DesignServe”. Tried to contact them through their website; contact form doesn’t work and neither does the telephone number. She’s adamant in seeing Tiscali’s name branded across the original welcome letters, so I called TalkTalk (formerly Tiscali). No recollection of either us but I’m wondering, why would they? Surely they’d have DesignServe as a listed customer, not us? I searched DesignServe on Companies House but nothing came up. There are a few variations of Design Serve, but nothing that matches it exactly.
I'm ******* stumped. Any ideas lads? Would really appreciate any sort of help with this – mum’s expecting a bill to fall at her doorstep for 5 year’s worth of ADSL she hasn’t used or paid for!

Sky and BT have both said "we need the MAC code". I've tried to explain on numerous occassions that 1 doesn't "exist" - it probably does but I can't see how I'm going to get it. Still no e-mail/telephone call from TalkTalk but there's still a few hours left in the 24 hours the dude gave me yesterday... I'm not confident
