MAC DVI-D resolution?

I have a macbook ca late 2007, and a 24" screen which runs at 1920 x 1080.

I recently bought a mini dvi -> dvi adapter, and was just going to buy a DVI-D cable (to plug it into the monitor) when I noticed that the cable said it is only capable of handling resolutions of up to 1600x

Do I need a special cable? Do I have the right adapter? Or is there no way to drive a 1920x1080 display with my macbook (unless i go svga)...

Thanks for your help!!!

DVI can handle 1920x1200 @ 60Hz
DVI-D (dual-link DVI) can support 3840 x 2400 @ 60Hz.

If the cable only specifies 1600 then it's probably only been verified to run at that resolution, but that's not to say it won't work. I'd try first.

Cheap cables can be hand for peanuts on auction sites these days :)

Don't forget DVI is essentially HDMI (no audio or colourspace support), so you can always go Mini-DVI to HDMI if your monitor supports it.

haha yeah the cable was like £2, but stated the 'lower' res which is why I thought maybe I'd have to get something fancy...

thanks!!
