MAC Filtering

I wish to enable and set up MAC filtering on our router but can't seem to find out if it supports it. I would ahve thought it would as our previous router did but can't find it within the settings pages. The router we have is a D-Link DSL2640R. It was provided to us by AOL.

Also if it does allow me to configure MAC filtering how would I overcome the following scenario.

We ahve our main router downstairs with an eithernet cable to our previous router upstairs. The DHCP server on the upstairs router is disabled. It basically gives out two wireless access points with 2 different SSID's but both connect us to the same network.

How would I egt around this scenario with MAC filtering?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

You mean there's an SSID for each router? If you want MAC address filtering you'd need to configure it on both routers (which makes it doubly pointless).

I dont get what you are trying to overcome?

Most people regard MAC filtering as a bit pointless. Your best bet is just to insure you have a good encryption key and dont use WEP.
