evening all,

need some advise as i am not that knowledgable.
my father is into his photography and does lots of editing (raw as well as jpegs),
he using adobe to do it.
at the moment he is using a i3 330 (i think) with 4gb of ram and has an okish 1080 monitor.
now i was wondering how good and worth it is it for him to get an iMac for his photos. i am pretty sure he doesn't need the 5k one and is the mac mini any good and then to buy an external monitor to go with it instead??
(he doesn't need laptop)
thanks for the help

I recently bought the bottom end Mac mini as an iTunes server. It fulfills that function fine, but the HD in it is a 500gbyte 5400 rpm laptop drive and it really does cripple the performance of the machine. Also the RAM is soldered in so you have to buy it when you spec the machine.

By the time you spec it up with an SSD/Fusion drive and upgraded to 8G of ram, the price goes pretty high.

I have no experience of using for for photo editing, but the machine is amazingly quiet and pretty slick, considering how low power it is.
