Hey all,

I'd like to start taking some video files on DVD to a friends house to watch. However, they've got a Mac, so I'll need to ensure the files will be supported. Normally I'd use the K-lite codec pack that I use, but I'm not sure if that supported on a Mac.

I use a range of codecs, but only really the common ones - Divx, Xvid, VP70, X264, AC3, and sometimes the Matroska container format.

So basically, what one should I take to install?

All posts appreciated :)

Yep, I second or third or fourth Perian + Flip4Mac. I would aso recommend real Player for Mac which is, unlike the Windows counterpart, almost OK on OS X. I have yet to find a vid I couldn't play with that lot installed.

Perian + Flip4Max to let QuickTime handle 98% of video files.

Keep VLC at hand for the other 2% of weird porn that won't play in QT! ;)

thats what I do too. QT handles almost everything, except 1GB 720p HD tv episodes weirdly. thus I leave that to VLC. Plus VLC plays almost any region DVD, irrespective of it being the right region or not for the DVD drive setting.

I've installed VLC today for the first time on OSX. However with quite a few of my divx videos it reports they have errors when i try to skip them forward? and/or plays them faster than they should be so you cant tell what they are saying. I also use VLC on my xp media centre pc with these same films but don't get these problems? do i need to change some settings or something?

Cheers
