Mac - how many memory modules?

I know a new Mac Book Pro and Mac Mini here at work both have 512mb RAM...how, without having to check the original orders - or opening them up, do i find out how memory sticks of RAM are in each?

I'm basically looking to upgrade them both to 1Gb

It should tell you how many and what sticks are in the system.
Most likely it will be 256x2 on both.

Methnks the MBP will have one module while the mini will have two becasue the integrated graphics benefits from dual channel operation. Tell me if I'm right, Tried&Tested.

How can they be new if they came with only 512MB? I thought the MBP's were pushing out at 2GB minimum?

Unless by new you're referring to the older CoreDuo chip, (still new mind!) which shipped with 512MB.
