mac keeps getting lines across screen help

i have a powerbook and for some reason sometimes a line comes across the screen it looks like dead pixels but its not and its not always there. it comes on when im surfing the net or watching a film but not all the time. its wierd and hard to explain. I dont know what to do. my mac is out of the year guarantee but i do have some high street store accidental cover on it.

How ? Surely thats the same for ALL hardware faults then?

It's the case for any inherently defective goods, which is the situation with this screen and for example the xbox 360.

its like that yes, but horizontal not vertical and its thicker, usually only comes on during web browsing and video playback.
