Mac losing date/time and various other controls....

Computer goes into shut down, and decided to set itself back to 1970 for some reason, and when it does so, cannot read the size of any drives, (be it USB pen drives or the HD), reset the date and it's fine... However I don't have any sound working at the moment either after the last issue...

pressing f3/f4/f5 at moment brings up the sound controls however the actual symbol is greyed out, even though the sound is showing at max (same if i use the menu bar volume slider... any suggestions?

Sounds like the CMOS battery has run out.
Not sure how you're going to fix it in a laptop, shouldnt be a expensive fix though. Ring apple.
