Mac Memory Prices...

Christ, had in the back of my head that i'd be able to upgrade the ram on my new imac for a perfectly reasonable price (based on the fact that i wacked 4GB into my 2.2GHz MacBook for about 50 quid) but it turns out to go up to 8GB is around 600 quid

just wondering, is there a decent alternative to this ram, maybe by picking a lower spec DDR2 ram if its even possible?

i think with my macbook, i would have been happy with 2 gig, but 4 was just so cheap its almost daft not too... saying that once i had it i noticed the difference and wouldn't go back...

with the imac, it has 4 already and i'm wondering if i would see a real difference going to up 8 or if right now 8 is overkill... nevertheless after spending so much on the new imac i wouldn't want to spend more than about 100 quid on any upgrades anyway so its a moot point, i'll just tell myself that 8 would be excessive
