I’m about to buy a M1 mini and switch from pc to Mac for the first time. I know the mini I want after going back and forth on an iMac or mini but I’m having a few issues before I order. Everything else in my house is cluttered with apple stuff so may as well take the last step.

I currently use Logitech mouse and keyboard set up. I’ve tried the magic mouse and I just didn’t like the feel in my hand, particularly the edges. So I will get a mx3 as that’s what I use on my desktop. I really like the look of the magic keyboard with Touch ID. I’ve watched some YouTube reviews and I’m sure I’ve seen it available in a space grey option? I can only see the white silver options. I really don’t want a white set up when everything else on my desk is space grey/silver.

I currently use an old dell monitor with a dvi input. 2407 and it’s served me well. I am still struggling to find a monitor that ticks the boxes for Xbox and photos so until I decide I will try to use the dell for a few weeks. Can I use a hdmi to dvi cable from the Mac mini?

Lastly back up. I’m thinking of getting one of those docks and put another ssd in. Anyone tried one of those and which make is the best?

Keyboard and mouse: Logitech MX Master 3 and MX Keys Mini here. Both are the new Bolt versions, so USB dongle in the Mac mini and they’re flawless. I’ve got the Magic Keyboard with TouchID, but frankly I don’t use it much, as the MX Keys Mini is backlit and a better typing style for me, but that’s personal choice… I wouldn’t get the silver MX Keys Mini, as it was nearly invisible keys in some lighting conditions! They TouchID keyboard’s only available in the normal Apple silver as well, unless you buy an iMac, or blag one that someone who’s bought an iMac is selling.

Not sure on your DVI issue, as I’ve no monitors left with DVI and am unable to test.

This dock looks OK. They do seem a little niggly, some models, but that one’s had reasonable reviews, and being able to stick an M2 drive as well as a 2.5” is quite useful. Other ones would be Satechi, who seem reliable enough.

Thanks for your replies. I went to look at the black MX keys and I like that better to type than the apple keyboard too. So I’m going for that. Only thing worrying me a little from the YouTube stuff I watched is the Bluetooth issue and how I’m going to connect everything with only 4 ports! That’s why I was considering a dock.

A lot of people go for the Logitech MX Keys keyboard, which I would recommend in either size.

Mouse wise again people go for the Logitech MX series which are very good, however, I've become more and more used to the trackpad on MacBooks with MacOS to the point that I much prefer it. Again, this is your call and depends on the usage, but I'd recommend giving a Magic Trackpad a go, as with the gestures you find just how fluid MacOS can be.

I would assume the DVI output would work fine from an M1, although do a search to check whether anyone else has tried the same. :)
