Hi,

Currently have a Mac Mini with a Dell U2414H monitor. Want to stick with Apple for general computing but want to have a decent flight sim experience which i obviously can't do on a Mac Mini or any current Mac for that matter. I want to build a PC just solely for the use of Flight Sim. I know what parts i want and all stuff like that but just curious on the best way to incorporate that onto my desk. Would i be best putting the PC in a case i can put out of the way and have a KVM switch? Can you get one that powers the PC up when pressed and boots direct into an application? Would my Apple wireless keyboard work with the PC? How would the speakers work?

Any help really appreciated!

Matt

You can get KVM switches that have DVI/Hdmi, Usb and audio support - probably about £60 or so.

I don't think you can get one that powers a PC on but you could use a phone app to do WOL (that's how i start my HTPC) and you can probably just put Flight Sim as a start up application in windows if you so wish

Thanks for the reply!

Will look into WOL, thanks.

Also do you know a solution on how i could use my wireless mac keyboard as if its bluetooth, that wouldn't work for the windows PC would it as it would still be connected to the mac. Or would i need to shut the mac down and then press the KVM button to swap over?

You've probably a couple of options. I think you could get a nano usb bluetooth adaptor and plug that into a kvm switch and pair to that rather than the mac/pc.

Or you could get a Logitech K811 which has a switch to change between 3 different bluetooth connections. It is pretty close to a mac keyboard in design. (I think there is also a K810 with Windows layout).
