Mac Mini - iTunes Server for AppleTV

I am looking at setting up a box as an iTunes server to use with AppleTV and ripping my DVD's to a compatible format, and add to itunes.

Would you guys suggest that the Mac mini would be upto the job for this.

I will have a more powerful Mac for actually doing the ripping, as looking at getting a Mac Pro as well, but the mini is low power use so not a problem leaving on 24/7, or would I need to use my Mac Pro as the iTunes server.

I believe that it would as surely it is disk access that would be the main issue for the streaming to the AppleTV.

You can store things on the Apple TV just incase you didn't realise.

It's probably better to stream if you plan on having your entire collection on it though..

WHy would you need an Apple TV? The Mac Mini can do the same job. Curious. Unless, of course you already have an Apple TV.

Get it running SMP folding@home too if its on 24/7. Doesnt interfere with streaming in my experience.
