Afternoon,

I have a core duo mac mini and am contemplating upgrading the memory myself. From what I have read a couple of putty knives get the case off but after that it seems a bit vague.

Has anybody any experience in doing this and how difficult would you rate it?

Cheers,

David

Search on normal search Google for 'mac mini upgrade video' and click the first link it pops up. On that page there is a video which goes through the steps so you can get an idea of what is involved.

Can't link directly to the site as it may be regarded as an OcUK competitor (in a very round about fashion).

I upgraded mine to 2GB a couple of month back and it's not terribly difficult. I managed to do it with just an ordinary butter knife without too much hassle. Basically, there are small plastic clips all around the inside of the case and you need to pry a thin object (your knife) into the case to loosen them slowly moving round the case. It does fell and sound like your breaking them you're not.

After the lid is off, it is a case of unclipping the bluetooth antenna, unclip a fiddly little cable at the front and then remove 4 screws to allow you to lift up the drive chassis. Swap your memory over and then reverse the process.

It took me about 15 minutes in total.

Thanks for your replies. I think I may have to give that a go then. I've carried out most other types of PC etc upgrades without problems so this should be ok.

Cheers,

David
