So I think the disk is probably on the way out on one of my mid-2010 Mac Minis (the ones which were the new form-factor but with built in optical drives unlike the later ones).

I don't have much need for local storage so a drop in capacity wouldn't be an issue (I think it's got a 320GB mechanical drive now) so does anyone have any recommendations on replacement drives?

Also is there a recommended online guide to replacing the drives in these (previously I've upgraded the memory but that was trivial where as this looks like it might be slightly more involved) ?

Thanks

Teardown guide - Obviously you don't have to follow all the steps for just replacing the HDD. Simple enough, just takes a little time.

I'd say getting an SSD is a no brainer if you're upgrading, 128gb can be had for around £50 and you'll instantly notice the speed upgrade.

i have a SSD in my 2010 Mini and it boots in less than 20 secs its easy enough to do and can take less than 5/10 min
