Morning, ;)

Im interested in a Mac Mini (higher model) for some audio editing and recording purposes. Specs seem decent enough, but my main concern is firewire connectivity and monitor connectivity.

I need to be able to use my external firewire 400 soundcard, but the newer model seem to only support 800. Do i just need some kind of adapter?

Also, my PC monitor has either DVI input or VGA, but again newer models have displayport and other features im totally lost with! Will i need any adapters, or do i get some with it?

If i can get both of these working, i'll be a convert :)

I'm pretty sure that firewire 800 is backwards compatible with 400.

Also, the mini comes with a mini-DVI to DVI adapter in the box I believe.

From that page, the mac mini has the firewire 800 9 pin connector which doesn't fit firewire 400 cables in stock. You'll need to purchase a male 9 pin firewire 800 to female 6 pin firewire 400 adaptor - easy to find online :)

As for the your display, the mac mini comes complete with a displayport to DVI adaptor free of charge :p

Hope this helps

P.S. Mac minis are awesome!!!
