Hello, I see on Apples web site mention of the "mac-mini 2011". Is this marketing sh** and just a relaunch of the existing generation or has this device been refreshed already? I was expecting quad cpu and more memory perhaps.

Also, are Apple every going to support blu-ray do you think?

Besides Bluray isn't the future, downloadable content is - Apple supporting Bluray would be a step back imo.

i have to disagree with this, the cost of itunes HD movies and the lake of a decent HD picture means that its always going to lose to a BluRay

My sweeping statement didn't mean Apple specific downloadable content is the future, I meant that's the way all content is heading.

Fact is the music industry has gone that way and it wont be long before the film industry catches up as the worlds internet speeds increase.

Fair do's didnt mean for it to sound like i was an ass :p

And potentially lose iTunes HD movie business? I doubt it very much.

http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/ <-- good reference of when refreshes are due

Well it may be in the future if you live in a country or part of the UK that has fibre. However, for most of the geographical area of the UK that is likely to remain a dream for many years to come.

It's still the awesome redesign from last season, can't wait for it to get sandy bridge, id almost be standing waiting at the door for one...

I think a refresh with SB is looking more and more unlikely as the TDP isn't a good fit with the compact design of the Mini. I suspect we may have to wait for IB before a refresh as this CPU will have much better TDP.

Owww time for a little sad face :(

Ill dream of the imac over the summer (or getting a cinema screen at least)

They've never updated the Mini with the same regularity as the iMacs or MBPs. C2D is a bit old, but given most people will only use the thing for 'the basics' or HTPC stuff, it can do all those without breaking a sweat, so I don't see them upgrading it for a while yet.

Hmmm, Not sure what to do TBH. I wanted one instead of a iMac since I have high end monitors etc already and need to use PC's for work. I could then double the PC main monitor with the Mac-mini. I want a baby one to run some VM's 24x7 and double as a media server with a load of cheapo USB drives.

I might buy a 2009 model off the bay to have a play around.
