mac mini sound not working

Turned on my mac mini today and for some reason it's not outputting sound - not via the built in speakers or headphone jack, so no sound from any ports at all. When I go into system preferences it says there's no audio device available. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Not sure if the PRAM reset works on the Mini. Try booting up with command, alt P + r held down.
