Mac Mini SSD troubleshoot

Bought a 2012 mini used, took out the old HDD and put a new SSD in (Sammy Evo). I have a time machine backup of my older mini which when booting up into recovery mode it sees. However the SSD isn't showing up! Same thing if I try and get it to reinstall mountain lion via internet recovery.

The thing is if I go into disk utility (in recovery mode still) I can see the drive there and it all looks fine. Am I missing something extremely obvious? :confused:

I assume this is the problem - the SSD is brand new so I thought that it should just be recognised straight away. I take it I have to format it via disk utility so it will then be recognised? Is that a case of using the 'erase' (w/Mac OS Extended) function?

Yup that did it! Restoring from time machine now. Woot.

It's as if I'm using the same computer... only quicker. Time Machine for the win. Nuked my old Mac Mini and used IR to stick Mountain Lion on - ready for a new user - got to sell that now. 16GB or RAM and instant opening of everything.
