depends what you mean by HD compatible

plays back HD content fine, but if your looking for a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD drives that might be a far off prospect

yer i meant HD player built into it

oh well I would like to have one under my tv and use as media centre connected to my windows box, use as dvd player and web browser with bluetooth kb/mouse

I think you can now get a Mac compatible Blu Ray burner (prob plays Blu-Ray titles) for about $800 though, depends how much your looking to spend

Apple supports the Blu Ray format, so we may see blu ray drives at some point, unlikly to get HD-DVD drives
