Mac OS High Sierra available from 25/9

I'm sure most here are already aware, but just a heads up that High Sierra is available for download from 6 pm BST tonight.

There's a note on there for beta users to exercise caution on upgrading, if they have a Fusion drive. If you haven't installed the beta then apparently you're good to go.

Wasn't even showing on a search for me, it now is however after quitting and reloading the App Store.

Mines done, just making a usb installer.

This is the terminal command, rename your USB stick to "Untitled" first.

Code:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app --nointeraction

I'll do mine after the football. Worth noting if you have an Apple Watch Series 3 you'll be able to use the Watch to unlock the Mac again (as pre High-Sierra it didn't recognise the new chip in the wearable).

Tricky, it wants to firmware upgade my MacPro, like many MacPro users my 4.1 MP is flashed to be 5.1 and support newer CPUs...

iPhone is still running iOS 10 while all the other iPhone 6 beta test the performance hit. I've no reason to update it at this time.

I'm holding off on the iMac due to an incompatibility with a Silicon Labs USB interface driver but will install on my MacBook as soon as I've created the installer USB.

Here's the arstechnica incredibly detailed review which is always worth a read while it's installing.

Anyone have the update stall at about 90% completed? Updating my iMac and it’s been sitting for a good couple of hours now on a black screen with Apple logo and stalled progress bar.

Can someone explain why this update does not show in the update check area of the app store?

Is this different from previous system updates as all the others I got a prompt that update was available.

Full OS updates always have to be downloaded from the main store.

I've worked a full day, on and off, on the MacBook Pro. Mostly web and email, and there's no noticeable change in performance or battery life. Safari auto-play blocking seems to work pretty well.
