Mac OS X 10.4.11 crashing help

HELP!!!

I have a MAC that is crashing, goes to a dull black screen saying that I need to turn off then back on again.
What do I need to do, I have discoved its a kernel panic.
Are there any tools for hardware and software to diagnose the problem?

Sorry for the vague post but any help appriciated!

Have you tried zapping the PRAM and NVRAM? Could be worth a shot. Visit here to find out how.
