'ello,

I've upgraded to the latest version of Mac OS X Lion via the app store  it's OK, but it's a bit slow compared to the previous version... i was wondering can you check disk permissions/file structure etc. using the OS install disk i got with my macbook like i used to, to see if there is any way i can speed things up? or will it not work?

sorry for the dumb question. :(

Just run the "Disk Utility" app already installed to repair permissions and verify disk.

yeah, cheers.

the only reason i ask about the install disk, is that when i ran disk utility it used to tell me to boot from the DVD on some occassions.

To repair the disk itself you have to be booted from a different OS - you can still do this with Lion though. Make sure you're up to date and the recovery update's been done, then you can boot into the Lion recovery partition just like you'd boot to an external drive (boot with alt key held down) and repair the disk there :)

Ahhh, didn't know about that!

Cheers. :)
