Basically, my friend has a new Mac Pro but he will be getting a developer version of Leopard for free so doesn't need to get his cheap upgrade version. Will it work on my MacBook or will it be tied to Mac Pro models (like the install discs that come with a new machine)?

Thanks.

The disks are UNLIKELY to be tied to a machine..
I'd tell you if my UTD disks actually ship anytime soon! :(

Hey CocoPops, im in the same boat as you mate, i got a new mbp on tuesday night from the arndale store, ordered my up to date copy that night and i only this minute got a shipped email from apple. So Mr TNT has my cat hoping for a tomorrow delivery :)

They'll just be sending out retail boxes, just like they've been doing with Macs sold from yesterday. It'll be next week (at the soonest) before they have Leopard pre-installs (and the restore discs to go along with them).

Hey,

Quick question regarding the leopard UTD disks, will i be able to do a clean install as oposed to an upgrade with these disks or just an upgrade. I really am looking to do a clean fresh install of leopard when i recieve them on monday.

You can do a clean install but it needs to find 10.4 on the drive to do any install.

I've just done a clean install on my MBP about 30 mins ago

Eh? Why does it need to find 10.4? The UTD disk are just full versions of 10.5 - I.e. you can do a clean install onto a blank hard disk.

I've just used the install and it scanned the HDD to find an already installed copy of OSX

Even the disk itself says its a Leopard Upgrade DVD

EDIT: Check the disk
