Hi guys,

Hope this is the right section for this :)
I need some help!!

I work in an office with windows server 2003 machines and Windows XP clients. We have a Workcentre 7132 Network printer which I am trying to get this bloody MacPro working with. I've tried a few different drivers now, all from the Xerox website. The version of Mac OS I am using is Mac OS X 10.4.9. I've tried adding printers by the following methods :

1. Internet Printing - Adding printer by ip address, then selecting one of the drivers that I downloaded from Xerox. This doesn't work as the mac is unable to communication with the printer and keeps saying its busy.
2. Windows Printing - This will ONLY work if I use a PS file drivers (not the executable drivers from xerox) And even then, it prints about 15 pages, most of which are blank, the others with garbage on them.
3. I eveen tried jet direct but that didnt work either.

Can someone please shed some light for me =(

PS - am Mac noob xD

Have you checked the printer to see if it supports Appletalk.
From experience, Appletalk seems to work better with Macs & Printers than adding via IP.
If the printer supports Appletalk, then enable the protocol, and then add the printer. Rather than select IP, leave it on the default tab and the printer should magically appear.

hmm i thought appletalk was a protocol used by apple macs to communicate with each other? Ill give it a try though =) thanks

Thats the "magic" of Appletalk!

I have seen may issues with printing from OSX to a printer directly attached to a Windows machine. Hardly ever works IMHO.

yeah i could never get it working properly despite having the UB drivers... it works fine connecting directly. But not through my windows server! :*(

Ive always found it easy, just install the drivers into the printer drivers folder or with the installer then use which ever method works best windows printers, network printers, etc... and then its pretty much there.
