Guys, I've been thinking...

I love Apple, I love OSX, I hate Windows...so why don't I go for a certification in OSX?

The course isn't out yet due to Leopard etc, but it will be soon. Has anyone ever gone for this on prior versions?

I will get a book on it I think, while I wait for the new material comes out.

Looks really interesting, and I am soooo in need of a career change.

Ta.

You'll be wearing a black turtleneck, blue jeans and white trainers in no time!

Sounds interesting, will be keeping an eye on the thread. :)

Would you be going for the OS X certifications and keeping your Microsoft ones up to date at the same time? I can see why you'd want the OS X ones to add more stings to your bow as it were, but Windows isn't going anywhere any time soon, and by flat out ignoring it you'd be doing yourself more harm than good (in a career path that depends on certifications, at least).

I know what you mean, and I suppose I was trying to be a bit funny. I went as far as Network + and then onto MCP (but failed). I'd like to look at them of course, but at the moment this is my aim!

Looked on Forest.com today during my lunch, at its not something thats well documented, I think I saw 2 books with only one official.

It wasn't 100% clear if it was based on 10.5, so I'll wait till end of this month to see if the new exam is out and grab the official book.

Really looking forward to it actually, to be able to study something I'm really into.

:)

If you've got proven experience, I don't really see the point. having said that, I don't know what the course involves anyway. If it's anything like the genius' have to do, it won't really be worth it. just ask EVH if you can follow him round for a few days asking questions!!

:p:D I already do lol. (Maybe thats why he doesnt come on msn much)

In all seriousness though, it would be a personal achievement to myself.

I'm relatively new to OSX but I have a lot of passion towards it, and want to learn more, and to then have that noted in a certificate.

If I could just get this essential done, then I could consider server, and there onwards towards either more Media type software?

A quick look, and most OSX Support companies have clients like Uni's and Media/Creative companies on their lists?

I'd certainly like to head towards that?

Thread may be slightly old, but I thought I'd drag it back to say I ordered some books recently, and thought I'd mention.

I ordered an Apple Training Series book on Support Essentials 10.5, plus David Pogue's Missing Manual (OSX & Vista).

Check online on Apple.com for the exam, which is £97 but also a 3 day course which I have emailed for a price.

It really looks interesting, the book is excellent, although reading isnt my forte´

I will though battle through it, and try examples as I go on using this iMac. Also will look towards the 3 day course if it isnt stupidly expensive.

So there you go, have a serious think if you like the idea because it I certainly am.
