Its proved that we don't need 3.6ghz Quad cores at all for normal word processing and web surfing...

Software is bloated now, there is no denying it.
 
When will they develop software that acts just like optional services which can be loaded only when they are selected to be used.

I don't think Microsoft done enough with Windows Vista in terms of efficiency when reading around.

I like how it has such a great range of automatically installed drivers though.

While you have a point that I don't deny this comparison is obviously stacked in favor of the Mac. They focused only on things that it did well. They ignored things that it could not do at all.
 
It is impressive yet at the same time it isn't. Like BillytheImpaler says the deck is quite obviously stacked in favour of the Mac to begin with and it comes complete with cheap digs at the end (1 hour to install XP? Not since I had a K6-2 333 has it taken me that long).

Just as an additional note, I didn't see anywhere that they compared the relative prices of the computers, I don't know exactly how much the Mac Plus cost when it was launched but in real terms as well as in actual price I'd be very surprised if it didn't cost significantly more than the PC today.
