Hey guys,

I’m in two minds here regarding macs..

I love the 2013 Mac Pro design, and only will be using it for basic computing (safari, Spotify, rekordbox etc.)

will this still be a “usable” device for several years to come??

Yeah, the trash can :D

for my needs, I’m not overly fussed about the latest OS, I’m thinking along the lines of performance too..

and it’s very upgradable too which is nice.

ended up with a 2018 Mac mini. Perfect for my basic tasks (apart from RekordBox) so happy, its mint condition too.

Im guessing being a 2018 model that it will support at least a few more OS versions to come?

hey guys,

I love my M1 MINI, but im still getting getting the itch to change it up for a 6,1 Mac Pro..

Seen it for a decent price on anther retailer website.

My main concern is the support for future OS updates..but I don't do anything heavy duty, so surely security will be provided for a couple of years if I can on run Monterey as the latest "official" OS?

Reason im fussing about the MP so much, is I loveee the trash-can design, and im sure for my needs the performance wouldn't be much less than the M1 MINI?

I use Spotify, Spark (mail), Safari and that's about it really..

I looked at the launch video again today and I can't deny that it's gorgeous. I liked the design when it first came out and I still do. It'd be pretty cool to have one in the corner of the office but it's just the relatively low power compared to the new M1 devices.

Feek! I hate you! :p

You got me doubting the choices again! :(

Well..its official, no support for Ventura on the "trash can". Shame. This rules me out, even though it wouldn't be as practical as my M1, I would have loved it, solely on design..but hey! There we go! :(

I know, I know im resurrecting this thread again..

I just wanted to know, if there are any downsides to installing "unofficially supported OS"..eg. Ventura?

The reason im hung up on the Mac Pro "trash can" is, I love it, basically. And for my uses, I don't suppose that it will b that noticeably slower than my MM M1?

Is it purely for the design? Is there anything it does the Studio couldn’t?

yeah, I love its aesthetics, I really do. no, the studio would blow it away im sure..

its also because of the prices, they have plummeted since the studio has come on the scene.
