I have 1GB in the form of 2 x 512MB in my Mac Pro and am looking to install more ram - however I have a question quickly.

It seems more cost effective to buy the 2GB (2 x 1GB) set - is it OK to have 3GB in my Mac Pro?

In my mind the 2 X512MB would be matched and the 2 x 1GB would be matched so it would work correctly - am I right?

Thanks in advance!

It'll certainly work, but will it operate in the fastest dual/quad/whatever channel manner if the sticks are different sizes and most likely brands? There must be a doc on the Apple site explaining the best way to go.
