MAC recovery tools?

Any recommended solutions for recovering deleted data on Mac? I only deal with Windows so have no idea, sorry!

Do these types of software actually work? Thought once something was deleted it was gone forever.

They can usually get something back at least as long as the disk has not been written to since the data was deleted.
This is due to the fact that unless you use a secure delete program nothing is ever actually deleted from the disk the sectors are just marked as free space by the OS which will then get round to overwriting the data that is there eventually.

Oh cool, thanks for sharing. Learn something new everyday, I thought once that delete button was clicked it was sent off into the abyss never to be seen again.
