Mac Text Editor?

I'm looking for a text editor so i can do a little programming work when i need to

TextMate is ideal BUT i don't want to pay that much money for it! Vi might be ok for some, but it's not as straight forward as TextMate, and i'm after simplicity!

I use TextWrangler (a cut-down free version of BBEdit)

TextMate, easily the best, and well worth the money

... at least it's far cheaper than BBEdit.
