Hi

I'm new to mac and would like some help on account setup.
Im thinking about creating a few standard user accounts and 1 admin account for all system changes.

When I first turn on my mac should I skip the apple id part as the first account set up is admin and I don't want to be associated with it, I just want to use that as admin only.

I plan to use a standard user account for day to day use.

I've basically been reading up a lot on differences between accounts and it seems some suggest to use standard account.

Cheers

Yes, you can safely skip the Apple ID for an account if you wish.

You will find with a standard account you won't be able to install anything which gets very annoying. I have all my accounts set to admin.

Thanks, so even with a standard account I can't install apps, I thought it would just ask for the admin password for such things on standard user accounts?

Yeah you could do that but that's a pain.

As for your second question, I don't see why you couldn't use the same ID for two accounts, best thing is to try it.

I can't help but think you're over complicating the situation though.

Instead of starting a new thread....

Im aware mac os can read an ntfs formatted drive, I have a few ntfs externals with my photos backed up, which are jpegs.
I know it's not possible to write to an nfts formatted drive from mac but can I copy from the externals to mac, in my case the jpegs?

Thanks
