£539.99, dam EVGA taking the mick. You can get a normal 680 and flash it for Mac use and you would save your self a hell a lot of money.

Why do people think that Mac Users don't mind if they charge double the price to put a Mac logo on it.

Because that's Apple's motto :p?

Most mac users that care have been using standard 6XX cards and 5XX cards for ages now albeit without a display whilst booting

These cards will have an EFI Bios that professionals will pay for - stability and support are key

You got yourself your man Kitkat9933 hit me up, Mac's are terribly expensive for what they are. People buy them for the logo, Their pc's are substandard and stupidly expensive.

It depends on usage really

I would agree on the cost point of view, for the same price you can have a more powerful machine and more compatibility, but that again depends on use really.

I would love to have a MAC to say I got one but they are too expensive for what they really are and the usage is limited, deal breaker.

As for the card again a bit over priced considering you could flash a normal one....Easy enough but as normal they don't recommend it

I'm not going to get into the whole Mac vs PC argument here (I'm writing this on my self-built PC, with two Dell Latitude laptops, an HP EliteBook, a MacBook Pro, and a MacBook Air all sat on my desk :p)... but I'm intrigued about what actually is the difference between the Mac approved version of a graphics card and the normal version?

I can't comment on EVGA/NVIDIA.

But Sapphire had to go through an approval and R&D programme for their 7950, which took nearly 6 months and was no doubt quite costly to get the approval. I suspect this is some of the reason for additional cost, but probably not all of it.

IIRC didn't Spie (and Peter) start Overclockers/Mllenium as selling Modified (soldered) and pre-tested CPUS with guaranteed overclocks... K7 Athlon era?

Potential idea there... ;)

Lol.. so a mac, which is just a PC in a pretty dress, needs a special edition of a graphics card? Using an industry standard PCI Express socket? I mean... the whole idea of needing a special version seems a little retarded to me. Have Apple gone out of their way to purposely gimp their PCs or what?

Don't get me wrong, they make some nice laptops and I can see why people might pay a bit extra for those over an Asus model... but anyone needing a mac pro must surely be a little masochistic to pay Apple tax when you can just install OSX on a proper PC for a fraction of the price?

Even though a Hackintosh is relatively simple, they are also unstable and require a lot of attention ( and against Apples T and C's) businesses' especially, need reliability and that's what these cards offer just like their original purchases of Macs.

indeed so; its finding a niche really or better way of putting it hole in the market.

From what Gibbo said I defo understand why they are expensive.
